So, on Saturday I got new tires on my van. I was deciding between two different kinds and I ended up going with the tires that cost $20 more per tire. I got home that evening and realized they charged me for the less expensive ones. Well, you can imagine my dilemma, do I figure I just got a great deal and forget it or do I do the right thing? Yep, I did the right thing.
There were two guys there and then the manager became involved. He was quite happy that I saved what would be his messed up inventory and all three of them were of course absolutely shocked that I would come back. I mean they couldn't get over it and I just explained that every time I would get in that van I would think about it and I couldn't live with myself.
While the manager was very stunned and grateful, he was happy to accept my money. So, my honesty cost me $84. I ask, does honesty pay? I guess I have to say yes it does, because I know I did the right thing and I can teach my children the value of honesty by walking the walk and not just talking the talk.
